CBN News Update: Abortion, Health Care and More

-The number of death threats against anti-abortion organizations is increasing, and they are under FBI investigation, CBN reports. Also, President Obama publicly censured the Friday murder of anti-abortion protestor James Pouillon, and CBN blogger David Brody compares Obama’s statement with an earlier statement on the death of abortion provider George Tiller.

-A 15-year-old in Denmark faces prison time for distributing pamphlets critical of Islam. Geert Wilders, a Dutch Parliament member, is also on trial for a short film he created about Islam that “incit(es) hatred and discrimination.”

“If Wilders loses, it will be the ultimate religious, political, and cultural capitulation by the Dutch government to Islam,” CBN says.

-President Obama may be backing down on a public option requirement for his health care plan, CBN reports. In his speech Wednesday, Obama downplayed the public option.

“It is only one part of my plan, and should not be used as a handy excuse for the usual Washington ideological battles,” he said.

-In other news, Rep. Joe Wilson (R-S.C.) says he will not apologize to the House for his outburst during Obama’s health care speech, and CBN posts an AP story on a Saturday presidential rally in Minn.

-Oregon wants to start taxing cars per mile driven, CBN reports.
